Of Pretense and Persuasions

I want to be a yoga master but I hate how commercialized Yoga has become in the West. I look suspiciously upon yoga bootcamps where long-haired yuppies gather on some arbitrary beach in Mexico to commune with the spirits of the universe and do yoga. What bothers me is not so much the mixing of cultures, but rather the cost. To me, it seems, that the learning of asanas and meditation should be free. As it costs nothing to practice, it should cost nothing to learn. Okay, maybe a few rupees or a donation to your favourite social cause, but not $4K.

The dude in the picture is someone I knew in college. He learned from a book.
